Course Policy

Attendance and Participation

Your attendance and active participation are required both for your own success in the class, and for the success of the class as a whole. Absences equal to 20 percent of the class may result in reduction of your term grade by one full letter grade. For example, an A- would become a B-. Missing more than 20 percent will result in failure. If you absolutely must miss, please contact me ahead of time via email.

Academic Honesty

DePaul University is a learning community that fosters the pursuit of knowledge and the transmission of ideas within a context that emphasizes a sense of responsibility for oneself, for others and for society at large. Violations of academic integrity, in any of their forms, are, therefore, detrimental to the values of DePaul, to the students’ own development as responsible members of society, and to the pursuit of knowledge and the transmission of ideas. Violations include but are not limited to the following categories: cheating; plagiarism; fabrication; falsification or sabotage of research data; destruction or misuse of the university’s academic resources; alteration or falsification of academic records; and academic misconduct. Conduct that is punishable under the Academic Integrity Policy could result in additional disciplinary actions by other university officials and possible civil or criminal prosecution. Please refer to your Student Handbook for further details.

Extenuating Circumstances and Special Requirements

If for any reason, you are having issues with submitting assignments or completing the work please contact me immediately.

Social Media Guidelines

This class will spend the majority of its time crafting content desined for the web. As such we must adhere to proper web ettiquete as well as school policy. As it happens, Depaul has well-crafted guidelines on the subject. In this class, please plan to adhere to them all.

"Blogs, social networks and Web sites such as Wikipedia, Facebook, Flickr, Second Life and YouTube are exciting new channels for you to share knowledge, express your creativity and connect with others who share your interests. DePaul University supports your participation in these online communities.

Because social media channels are fairly new to many employees, we’ve assembled "best practice" guidelines from respected online and industry sources to help you use these forums effectively, protect your personal and professional reputation, and follow university policies."
