hi nicolette, i usually play around with the different options under the live trace to see what effect comes out how you want it. you can't control it very much so you might have to do some editing in photoshop (like take the background out). but once you expand the live trace effect you'll get the vectors released that you can manipulate. usually i end up ungrouping and releasing the compound paths and clipping masks, if there are any, under the "object" in the tool bar. i hope this helps. email me if you have more questions about this. babecker21@ymail.com. - brooke
