What do I want to get out of this class?
When this class first started, I was hoping to build a basic foundation for webdesign using html/css and all the different programs that are used (i.e. dreamweaver, adobe flash, etc. etc.)

After a couple of weeks in the class, is was apparent that this class wasn't quite what I thought it was going to be.  Not that that's good bad or otherwise, just different.

With this final project, I supposed I have expanded my HTML and CSS knowledge.  CSS for whatever reason still gives me a little bit of trouple (seriously, why can't the syntax for HTML and CSS be the SAME!).  While I'm really not comfortable writing and designing websites from scratch, I am much more confident when looking at code of an existing website and tweaking it or fixing problems.  I sometimes have to do that with my job, so that skill has definetly helped out in that department.

If I were not done with school after this quarter (hallelujuah!!!), I'd love to continue studying practical web design.  Hopefully I'll soon find myself in a place where I will be able to continue my studies-- albeit on my own.

TECH CORNER: In case you missed it, I was supposed to share about Blogging as the New Journalism.  I didn't create a fancy power point, because, well I figured most of you wouldn't need that.  Instead I (appropriately) blogged about it at http:philipiansfoursix.blogspot.com.  I've also included links on the blog and delicious (yum).  Since I deal with all these crazy blog-o-sphere peeps on a daily basis, feel free to ask me anything.  Personally, within my department, we are embracing that they are becoming the go-to source for lots of news and we are doing are best to mediate their content.

I am a second year grad student within the New Media Studies program, and anticipate graduating in June.  The majority of my time and energy is spent working for DePaul Athletics, where I am a graduate assistant in the Athletic Communications Department.  I am the primary media contact for volleyball and men's and women's cross country and track and field.  I produce/manage/edit/update everything web and print based dealing with these sports, in addition to serving as their media liason.  You can see my work by visiting www.DePaulBlueDemons.com.

My passion, is obviously sports.  I am loyal to a fault to the Detroit Tigers and Redwings.  It would be my dream to work for the Tigers some day (although I wouldn't turn down a job with the Cubs either).

My favorite TV character would probably have to be Hurley from Lost.  He always tries to find the good in every person and situation.  Plus he's funny and say's "dude" a lot.

I have my facebook on lockdown, since I wasn't allowed to have it at work for a while, so you probably won't be able to find me.  If you want an add, email me at dmeiste@depaul.edu.

I recently started tweeting-- for work purposes.  You can follow all the latest on DePaul cross country and track and field at https://twitter.com/depaulxcandtf

I don't tweet personally - I still don't get it... I prefer the facebook feed.  I know its basically the same thing, but I found it annoying in the beginning.  I'm stubborn so I've decided I'm always going to find it annoying. :-)
